PROJECT OVERVIEW
Parkwood Project Management is proud to have collaborated with Torquay Council and Parkwood Leisure on a £1.4 million project to enhance and refurbish the Riviera International Centre, which is located in the heart of Torquay. Involving conversion of an existing conference suite to provide a spacious 120 station gymnasium, improved studios and incorporating M&E systems and HVAC upgrades.
PHASE 1:
Undertaking feasibility assessments to determine options for an improved facility mix. The option to undertake a full conversion of an existing conferencing suite to provide a large state of the art gymnasium facility accessed directly from reception was selected. The final scheme included new ventilation and air conditioning, LED lighting and contemporary design features and finishes throughout. To compliment the conversion a full suite of new CV, resistance and functional fitness equipment was selected.
PHASE 2:
Focused on improving the existing fitness areas and fitness reception which was reconfigured to provide a dedicated spinning room and two further multi purpose studios all benefiting from a complete modernisation continuing the contemporary theme established by the Phase 1 works. In addition the existing weights zone was fully refurbished to incorporate a Shapemasters zone providing a bespoke offering of power assisted technology for a low impact full body workout ideal for rehabilitation.
PHASE 3:
Involved an improvement to the support facilities with updated Mechanical and Electrical systems. Replacement of space and pool water heating and distribution systems incorporating new energy efficient motors controlled with variable speed drives and demand based BEMS strategies to reduce utility consumption and provide users with reliable and comfortable internal conditions. Further improvements to the extensive car parking arrangements incorporating ANPR systems and convenient user validation interfaces for ease of regular and seasonal visitors alike.
